You could help buy a hopper

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - News -

ThE cathedral wants to put a total of 40 hoppers on to the downpipes on the roof.

These will increase capacity by storing any waterfall so that the pipes have longer to drain the water away. These hoppers cost £2,500 to have made and installed.

Any individuals, organisations or companies who pay for a hopper will have their initials inscribed on the hopper and their gift will be recorded in the cathedral’s Archive of Generous Benefactors.

Canon Richard Cattle said: “It’s the sort of thing that an organisation can club together and raise the money for each one.”

however, he said smaller donations would also be “wonderfully received”.

The benefit of the appeal is that the cathedral does not have to raise the whole amount in order start work. As soon as they have enough for three or four hoppers they will be made and installed and each one will help alleviate the potential problem.

Canon Cattle said: “Whatever the response and however long it takes we are helping to deal with the situation.”
