Com­pa­nies show some re­spon­si­bil­ity

WIN­NERS came from across the East of Eng­land to pick up their awards and be recog­nised for their re­spon­si­ble busi­ness pro­grammes at the re­cent Busi­ness in the Com­mu­nity Awards.

Nine lo­cal com­pa­nies have won pres­ti­gious na­tional Big Ticks Awards and 20 com­pa­nies in the East of Eng­land have picked up re­gional awards for pro­grammes that help to im­prove busi­nesses’ im­pact on so­ci­ety and the en­vi­ron­ment.

Among the suc­cesses were Whit­tle­sey-based McCain Foods which was highly com­mended in Car­bon Pos­i­tive Award which was won jointly by Hunt­ing­don firm GPS PE Pipes and the Uni­ver­sity of East Anglia.

Hunt­ing­don was again on the win­ners’ roll call when the En­vi­ron­ment Agency was highly com­mended in the Anglian Wa­ter Most In­no­va­tive New Pro­gramme Award.

Mike Bro­phy, re­gional di­rec­tor for Busi­ness in the Com­mu­nity, was full of praise for the “many strong ex­am­ples of re­spon­si­ble busi­ness prac­tice in the East of Eng­land.”
