Companies show some responsibility
WINNERS came from across the East of England to pick up their awards and be recognised for their responsible business programmes at the recent Business in the Community Awards.
Nine local companies have won prestigious national Big Ticks Awards and 20 companies in the East of England have picked up regional awards for programmes that help to improve businesses’ impact on society and the environment.
Among the successes were Whittlesey-based McCain Foods which was highly commended in Carbon Positive Award which was won jointly by Huntingdon firm GPS PE Pipes and the University of East Anglia.
Huntingdon was again on the winners’ roll call when the Environment Agency was highly commended in the Anglian Water Most Innovative New Programme Award.
Mike Brophy, regional director for Business in the Community, was full of praise for the “many strong examples of responsible business practice in the East of England.”
