The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - World Cup -

RoB Green has received backing from punters who have made him the favourite to be England’s starting keeper against Algeria on Friday.

Following Green’s howler against the USA on Saturday, Paddy Power were offering 11/4 the West Ham stopper would be retained in England’s goal but that has been backed in to 4/5 favourite. David James, who Paddy Power had expected to be recalled, has drifted from 4/7 to 11/8 with Joe Hart the 11/2 outsider.

Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “Punters seem to accept these things can happen and no real damage was done to England’s long-term chances so are expecting Fabio to keep the faith with Green.”
