Boost for Posh as Craig pledges future
Mackail-Smith said: “I am fully focussed on the new season and hope that I can bang the goals in. I am fully committed to Posh and can’t wait for the fixtures to come out.
“Last time I was in League One I managed 26 goals so I am hoping that I can replicate that and help the club go straight back up.
“I am excited about the new season and I’m even looking forward to pre-season training!
“We knew what to expect last summer from Darren Ferguson, but we don’t know what to expect from the new manager which is probably a good thing.
“ The new signings look good so everything is in place for a good and successful season.”
Mackail-Smith was speaking at a photo shoot for the new Posh kit which will be officially launched at the club shop on July 1.
Johnson has signed centre-forward Dave Hibbert from Shrewsbury to add strength and height to his forward line, but it would be a major surprise if Aaron Mclean does not partner Mackail-Smith up front in the first game of the season.

The popular 26 year-old became unsettled last season following the arrival of Jim Gannon to manage the club.
Gannon substituted the fans’ favourite before half-time in one match and he was regularly left out of the starting line-up altogether.
He was linked with moves to Championship clubs Watford, Leicester and Reading towards the end of the relegation campaign, but returned to favour under new manager Gary Johnson and responded with two goals in the last fixture of the season at Plymouth to make it 10 goals for the season.
Mackail-Smith was one of the star performers when Posh last appeared in League One and he insists he is fully focussed on helping Posh win promotion from League One. at London Road since the end of last season, while right-back Mark Little has turned his loan move into a permanent transfer.
