Plea for help for fish

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Uk&world Update -

PEOPLE are being urged to watch out for fish in distress in waterways around the city as part of an Environment Agency appeal.

In summer, rain combined with warm temperatures can cause low oxygen levels in watercourses, leading to fish be- coming sick or even dying.

Signs of fish in distress are fish gasping at the surface of the water, looking inactive or swimming on their sides or upside down. People are asked to report any sightings on the Environment Agency incident hotline number 0800 80 70 60.
