Pupils’ pedal power les­son

YOUNG­STERS in Peter­bor­ough have re­ceived free cy­cle train­ing in a bid to en­cour­age al­ter­na­tive means of travel.

The pupils from Winy­ates Pri­mary School in Or­ton Gold­hay, were in­vited to take part in the Bike­abil­ity scheme, which was set up by Trav­el­choice which is part of Peter­bor­ough City Coun­cil and fo­cuses on in­creas­ing ac­tive travel.

As­sis­tant head­teacher Joanne Tom­lins, said: “The chil­dren have taken part in bi­cy­cle main­te­nance and checks and road safety. They were re­ally ex­cited.”

Tay­lor Ib­bott (11) said: “I liked learn­ing about dif­fer­ent types of roads and how to use our back brake and then our front brake to stop safely.”
