Charity evening hits the right note
A WHITTLESEY care home has joined the campaign to raise money to help a teenager battling against cancer.
Shannon Corr (15) of Glenfields, Whittlesey, had her right leg amputated after being diagnosed with a rare bone cancer. Her family is now trying to raise £20,000 to help pay for a prosthetic limb.
Judy Wilson, manager of The Hermitage Care Home in Whitlesey, heard about the campaign from Lucy Cawthorne, a friend of Shannon and Judy, and despite having never met Shannon, decided to hold a fundraising evening, with a singer, raffle and other entertainment at her village hall in Bluntisham, near Huntingdon in May.
Mrs Wilson said: “We raised £909 on the night, and Hermitage agreed to round the figure up to £1,000.
“I would like to thank Peter Jay, who sang on the night, and everyone who came along to help out.”
