Still time to enter education awards
SOME great schools doing wonderful things across the city have been put forward for the ET’s Education Awards – but there is still time to submit your nominations.
This year is the 10th anniversary of our awards, and we want to make them the best yet. To do that we need your help, as we need you to tell us about all the good work going on in schools in and around Peterborough.
We want to know about all the unsung heroes in education, be it the caretaker who is an integral part of school staff, or the youngster who has shone in the arts.
One school which has been nominated is Queen’s Drive Infant School, who have been put forward for the Environment Award.
Jill Foster, who works for Peterborough Environment City Trust, nominated them.
She said: “The school has made a major commitment to become a Sustainable School. They are addressing all the areas of the Department for Education Sustainable School Framework.
“They held a two-day Sustainability is Fun event where the pupils took part in activities on all aspects of sustainability, including recycling, energy use reduction, gardening, traditional playground games to encourage more outdoor play and road safety.
“They have limited space available for a school garden but are growing in pots and other containers.”
Having been nominated, Queen’s Drive Infant School could be among those attending the glittering awards ceremony which will take place at the Key Theatre, Peterborough on Wednesday, July 14.
As well as the prestigious title, the winner of each category will take home £250 for their school.
ET deputy editor Nigel Thornton said: “Our Education Awards are a fantastic way to recognise both achievement and effort from pupils and staff members alike.
“Nominating a school, group or individual couldn’t be easier as we have both paper and online forms available, so we hope lots of readers will get involved.”
To enter the awards, fill out the form on this page, and send it to Linda Pritchard, Education Awards, Peterborough Evening Telegraph, 57 Priestgate, Peterborough, PE1 1JW, by 5pm on Wednesday, June 30.
Alternatively, complete our online form, which can be found at www. peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/ education
