Sky’s the limit for Park Air
NORTHROP Grumman Park Air Systems has been awarded contracts to provide air traffic control tower communications equipment and a surface movement guidance and control system at the Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, the largest airport in northern Vietnam.
The work will be split between the office in Market Deeping and the company’s offices in Norway. It is due to be completed in March 2011.
“Vietnam is an important market for Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems,” said Ken Beedle, director international communications, Northrop Grumman.
“It is the first contract of this nature in Vietnam and comes to fruition after a number of years of positioning work incountry.”
The recently-built 80m-high air traffic control (ATC) tower at Noi Bai is the first step in a comprehensive upgrade programme for the airport. The construction of the new terminal has already started and further extensions are expected in the near future.
The ATC tower will be fitted with a voice communication system consisting of Northrop Grumman’s GAREX Voice Communication and Control System (VCCS), recording system and PAE T6 multi-mode air-ground radios, all of which will be fully integrated to deliver enhanced communications at the airport.
Mr Beedle added: “Vietnam is also expanding rapidly and will need to invest in replacement and upgrade programmes similar to this in the future.”
