Fun event is seek­ing to beat crime

LO­CAL band The Brays and X-Fac­tor star Ni­cole Lawrence are among the acts lined up to per­form at an event in Peter­bor­ough in a bid to tackle crime.

The youth in­for­ma­tion day will take place in Cathe­dral Square in a bid to ed­u­cate young peo­ple about the con­se­quences of com­mit­ting crime.

The Brays will be on stage on July 24 from noon to 1pm.

Other at­trac­tions in­clude a climb­ing wall, graf­fiti art paint­ing, mu­sic mix­ing decks and the po­lice dog unit will be pay­ing a visit.

In­for­ma­tion will also be avail­able about ac­tiv­i­ties and events for young peo­ple across the city in­clud­ing foot­ball teams, a pool league, mar­tial arts and other sports ac­tiv­i­ties.

Free health checks will also be avail­able.

The event takes place be­tween 10am and 4pm.

The youth in­for­ma­tion day has been or­gan­ised by the Stamp Out Re­tail Theft Ev­ery Day (SORTED).

The group which is sup­ported by Peter­bor­ough City Coun­cil’s young peo­ple’s ser­vice, Cam­bridgeshire Con­stab­u­lary, Peter­bor­ough Citi Safe ra­dio link and Boots’ store de­tec­tives.
