Folk enjoy summer fun across the city
PEOPLE have been enjoying fun in the sun at summer events across the city.
Youngsters aged under five and their parents donned pirate fancy dress at Ferry Meadows Country Park, off Oundle Road, Orton Waterville, on Tuesday to take part in the Barnardo’s Big Toddle fundraising event. The short sponsored walk was one of many being held around the country to raise cash for the chil- dren’s charity.
Crowds flocked to Folksworth Summer Fete and Scarecrow Festival on June 5, which also featured the official opening of Folksworth Fun Park, a new play area for the village in Townsend Way. The fete included stalls and a beer festival and was held at the Fox Inn, in Manor Road.
Classic motors were the main attraction at a vintage car show hosted on Wednesday at the Botolph Arms, off Oundle Road, Orton Longueville.
The show included exhibits from groups the Twenty49ers, BSA Bike Club and VW enthusiast clubs. There was also a display of traditional molly dancing at the event.
Also learning traditional dances and music were pupils at the Sacred Heart RC Primary School, in Tollgate, Bretton, who explored different cultures during an International Day on June 11.
