Folk en­joy sum­mer fun across the city

PEO­PLE have been en­joy­ing fun in the sun at sum­mer events across the city.

Young­sters aged un­der five and their par­ents donned pirate fancy dress at Ferry Mead­ows Coun­try Park, off Oun­dle Road, Or­ton Water­ville, on Tues­day to take part in the Barnardo’s Big Tod­dle fundrais­ing event. The short spon­sored walk was one of many be­ing held around the coun­try to raise cash for the chil- dren’s char­ity.

Crowds flocked to Folksworth Sum­mer Fete and Scare­crow Fes­ti­val on June 5, which also fea­tured the of­fi­cial open­ing of Folksworth Fun Park, a new play area for the vil­lage in Townsend Way. The fete in­cluded stalls and a beer fes­ti­val and was held at the Fox Inn, in Manor Road.

Clas­sic mo­tors were the main at­trac­tion at a vin­tage car show hosted on Wed­nes­day at the Bo­tolph Arms, off Oun­dle Road, Or­ton Longueville.

The show in­cluded ex­hibits from groups the Twen­ty49ers, BSA Bike Club and VW en­thu­si­ast clubs. There was also a dis­play of tra­di­tional molly danc­ing at the event.

Also learn­ing tra­di­tional dances and mu­sic were pupils at the Sa­cred Heart RC Pri­mary School, in Toll­gate, Bret­ton, who ex­plored dif­fer­ent cul­tures dur­ing an In­ter­na­tional Day on June 11.
