Hobson bridges a gap in time

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Telegraph -

TODAY I’ve included two pictures of Peterborough’s Town Bridge before it was rebuilt.

If you are unfamiliar with the history of the city centre in the early part of 20th century, then the bridge, as it is now, was built in 1934.

The iron bridge before that can be seen in today’s two images.

It would have used at a time when electric trams were first starting to appear in the city.

Other notable dates include the building of a war memorial in 1928, the creation of a city museum in 1929 and a new town hall in 1933.

Do you have any old pictures of the bridge?

If so, please get in touch with me using the contact details below.
