Football menus will be a winner with pupils
YOUNGSTERS at Peterborough schools will be sampling flavours of the World Cup next Wednesday.
A special menu has been prepared by Peterborough City Council’s catering team featuring food from each country competing in the World Cup. Throughout the tournament, schools can choose a selection from the countries playing on that day. So on Wednesday, the menu will feature cuisine from England, the USA, Slovenia, Algeria, Australia, Serbia, Ghana and Germany.
It will be one of a series of 40 specially themed menus to reflect events throughout the year as well as the school’s curriculum. Others include St George’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year, Wimbledon and Comic Relief, as well as Ancient Greece and Low Carbon Day themed menus.
Melissa Shaw, the council’s acting senior catering contracts manager, said: “The World Cup menus are a great chance for youngsters to get into the spirit of the competition and show their support
