Move galvanizes firm to success
A LOCAL firm is celebrating its most successful year yet, after moving into brand new premises 12 months ago.
East Anglian Galvanizing, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, has seen its customer base rise by 15 per cent, and its local market grow by more than 10 per cent.
The success follows relocation from its old city premises in Woodston, where it had been located for more than 60 years, to its new state-of-the-art site in Sawtry, near Peterborough.
The new facility houses a deeper and wider galvanizing bath, which has led to an increase in capacity, as well as in the types of work the firm is now able to process, including sports field fencing and animal enclosures.
With a number of built-in green technology features, including an integrated rainwater collection and storage system, it is able to recycle large volumes of water into the galvanizing process, eliminating “run- off” from site and reducing the use of mains water.
Modern design has also resulted in the improvement of delivery and collection, and an enhanced process layout of the plant has enabled a more efficient and resourceful production line.
Sales and commercial manager at East Anglian Galvanizing Selwyn Parrish said: “Since our move to new premises this time last year, we have seen significant improvements in the working environment for our staff, as well as in output and productivity on behalf of our customers.
“We are now able to operate 24 hours a day, ensuring a quicker turnaround for customers, and a new overnight service has been introduced, which has seen our average lead times reduce from four days to two.
“Our growth over the past 12 months has also meant that we have been able to take on four new members of staff from the local area, and we are hoping to undertake further recruitment over the coming months.”
