Woman is hurt in three car collision

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - News -

POLICE closed a Peterborough road to traffic for more than two hours yesterday following a threecar crash.

A woman had to be cut free from one of the vehicles invoved in the collision on the busy Oxney Road, between Sainsbury’s supermarket and the Oxney Road caravan site and opposite Lyvelly Gardens, in Eastfield at 11.10am.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Peterborough District Hospital. No one else was injured in the accident.

The vehicles involved were a Vauxhall Corsa, a Volvo S40 and a Renault Clio. Fire crews from Dogsthorpe and Stanground were at the scene.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said: “Fire crews had to remove the roof off the Corsa to release a woman trapped inside due to her injuries,

“They used specialist cutting equipment to create space for the woman to be released from the vehicle safely and she was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

A police spokesman said: “One person has been slightly injured in the accident. The road was opened at 12.20pm.”
