Sun­shine is saved from pub­lic vote

AS the sun shone down on the Big Brother house, city star Sun­shine was given a wel­come boost.

For­mer King’s School pupil Yvette Mar­tyn (24), who is also known as Sun­shine, will not be up for evic­tion this Fri­day.

Sun­shine was not one of four house­mates nom­i­nated yes­ter­day to face evic­tion on Fri­day.

How­ever, one of the four nom­i­nees, Shabby, was later given the chance to choose an­other can­di­date to get the boot from the house af­ter win­ning the Scooter Slide task.

She chose Mario to face the pub­lic vote, mean­ing Sun­shine is safe in the house for an­other week.

To­day, Sun­shine’s fa­ther An­thony Mar­tyn (67), of El­ton Road, Wans­ford, spoke of his de­light.

He said: “I’m very pleased for her. My feel­ing was that she would be safe this week.”

Af­ter a dif­fi­cult start to life in the house, An­thony be­lieves his daugh­ter is now start­ing to blos­som on the re­al­ity TV show.

He added: “I think she’s putting her head into it now. I think there’s a lot of peo­ple out there who can iden­tify with her.”

An­thony also re­vealed Sun­shine, who is a med­i­cal stu­dent at Le­ices­ter Uni­ver­sity, will not be un­happy at missing Eng­land’s jour­ney on the foot­ball World Cup.

“She’s not in­ter­ested in the foot­ball, or ten­nis for that mat­ter now Wim­ble­don has started,” he said.
