Man threatened ex
A CITY man who threatened to kill his former partner has avoided a jail term.
Igor Solovjovs (41), of Warbon Avenue, New England, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court yesterday where he was sentenced for causing fear of violence by harassment.
He had pleaded guilty to the charge at a previous hearing.
The court heard how he had texted Olga Fedorenkova threatening to harm himself in September last year. On September 17, he texted her again, this time threatening to kill her.
Jonathan Seely, defending, told the court that Solovjovs was not serious about the threats and described his mood as ‘passionate and pleading.’
Judge Neil McKittrick sentenced him to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and ordered him to carry out 150 hours unpaid work.
Solovjovs was also ordered to pay £350 compensation and £350 costs, as well as being given a restraining order, banning him from making any direct or indirect contact with Mrs Fedorenkova.
