Migrant camps have appeared across the city

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Your Telegraph -

A SERIES of squalid camps housing homeless immigrants in the city have been reported since the expansion of the European Union in 2007.

In May 2009 a migrant camp was burned to the ground in a sheltered wooded area next to Fletton Lake.

Last December migrants set up camp in woodland at Cygnet Park in Hampton.

In March the ET revealed that immigrants were living on the Boongate roundabout.

In April six Eastern Europeans were evicted from a campsite near to Potters Way includ- ing a kitchen and wardropes.

Later that month Czech immigrant Joszef Szabo admitted he had been living in Lincoln Road resident Ian Treasure’s back garden for six months.

The story made national news and prompted the UK Border Agency trial.
