Roads to close for sewerage works
HOMES near March will be getting connected to mains sewerage systems for the first time thanks to a £650,000 scheme.
Work by Anglian Water at Eastwood End, in Wimblington, will mean 45 homes can be connected to the mains drainage system.
The work involves creating two new pumping stations and laying a kilometre of new sewerage piping.
Work is now underway and is expected to be completed by the end of December.
While the work is good news for homeowners, it will cause disruption for motorists.
Anglian Water have agreed a series of road closures and diversions with Cambridgeshire County Council highways department, while work takes place.
From June 28 to October 22, Wimblington Byway will be closed and a diversion route will be in place, using Eastwood End, the A141 Isle of Ely Way, the B1093 Manea Road and parts of Workhouse Drove.
From June 28 to August 6, Tudor Place will be closed from the junction with Eastwood End to the corner of Hook Road and Workhouse Drove.
The diversion route uses part of Hook Road, Coleseed Road, Upwell Road, St Peters Road, The Causeway, The Avenue, Wimblington Road, Isle of Ely Way, and Eastwood End.
From August 9 to October 22, Eastwood End will be closed from the Hook Lane junction up to the junction with Isle of Ely Way, near to Hill View.
Diversions will be in place using the Isle of Ely Way.
