Roads to close for sew­er­age works

HOMES near March will be get­ting con­nected to mains sew­er­age sys­tems for the first time thanks to a £650,000 scheme.

Work by Anglian Wa­ter at East­wood End, in Wim­bling­ton, will mean 45 homes can be con­nected to the mains drainage sys­tem.

The work in­volves cre­at­ing two new pump­ing sta­tions and lay­ing a kilo­me­tre of new sew­er­age pip­ing.

Work is now un­der­way and is ex­pected to be com­pleted by the end of De­cem­ber.

While the work is good news for home­own­ers, it will cause dis­rup­tion for mo­torists.

Anglian Wa­ter have agreed a se­ries of road clo­sures and di­ver­sions with Cam­bridgeshire County Coun­cil high­ways depart­ment, while work takes place.

From June 28 to Oc­to­ber 22, Wim­bling­ton By­way will be closed and a di­ver­sion route will be in place, us­ing East­wood End, the A141 Isle of Ely Way, the B1093 Manea Road and parts of Work­house Drove.

From June 28 to Au­gust 6, Tudor Place will be closed from the junc­tion with East­wood End to the corner of Hook Road and Work­house Drove.

The di­ver­sion route uses part of Hook Road, Cole­seed Road, Up­well Road, St Peters Road, The Cause­way, The Av­enue, Wim­bling­ton Road, Isle of Ely Way, and East­wood End.

From Au­gust 9 to Oc­to­ber 22, East­wood End will be closed from the Hook Lane junc­tion up to the junc­tion with Isle of Ely Way, near to Hill View.

Di­ver­sions will be in place us­ing the Isle of Ely Way.
