Krause up against the best

EL­TON Furze club pro­fes­sional Glyn Krause will be pit­ting his wits against some of the best in the busi­ness this week­end at the PFA Se­niors Cham­pi­onship.

Krause qual­i­fied with a top 20 place at the Se­nior PGA Pro­fes­sional Cham­pi­onships at Northants County last week and will be up against leg­ends of golf like two-time ma­jor win­ner Sandy Lyle and for­mer Ry­der Cup cap­tains Sam Tor­rance and Ian Woos­nam.

The £250,000, 72-hole tour­na­ment will be held over the Hunt­ing Course at Sla­ley Hall in Northum­ber­land and will be tele­vised by Sky Sports.

VIST­ING clubs cer­tainly en­joyed a good day out at the Greetham Val­ley Mixed Open on Sun­day.

Pick of the bunch were Peter­bor­ough Mil­ton pair Peter and Helen Long who won with 41 points while Ju­lia Reynolds from Stoke Rochford and Greetham part­ner Alastair Hamil­ton took sec­ond with 39 points and Matt Wil­liams and Ruth El­lis from Greetham were third on 38 points.

THOR­NEY Lakes Se­nior Club Cham­pi­onship was cer­tainly a close run af­fair with just three shots split­ting the top five fin­ish­ers.

Af­ter two rounds John Wat­son took the crown with a net 145, just one shot ahead of John Drury. In third was Frank Va­le­rio on 147 while fourth went to John Lit­tle on 148 and Reg Boot was fifth on count­back.
