Orton’s charity boost
MEMBERS of Orton Meadows Golf Club have been doing their bit to beat cancer by raising more than £1,000 to help fight the disease.
Despite having a relatively small membership of roughly 150 players, so far this season the bighearted bunch have managed to raise the princely sum of £1,183.39 for Cancer Research.
And grateful representatives of the charity paid a trip to the club last week to collect their cheque from men’s captain, Iain Caville, ladies skipper Lynne Simpson and Alan Hodge who is senior captain at the club.
Simpson said: “For a small club it was a wonderful amount for us to raise and we were very pleased to be able to help such a worthwhile cause in this way.”
