RISING athletics stars will be star guests at a March school’s sports festival.
Neale-Wade Community College, in Wimblington Road, will welcome Charlotte Roach and Benedict Kelk to present awards and meet pupils at the sports event on June 30.
Year 6 pupils from feeder primary schools will be at Neale-Wade for the event, which aims to get young people involved in sport and marks National School Sports Week 2010.
Charlotte, a track and cross country runner, joined the British Triathlon Federation’s TriGold programme in 2009. She finished fourth in the 2007 European Junior Cross Country Championships and is hoping to make it into the Olympic squad for London 2012.
She is currently taking a year out from reading Natural Sciences at Trinity College in Cambridge to train and recover after a sporting accident.
Ben Kelk is an athlete from Cambridgeshire and is being supported by SportsAid and Lloyds TSB on his journey to make it into the squad for London 2012. He is an A level student at Long Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge and combines his studies with training and competition commitments.
