Scouts de­liver health mes­sage to hun­dreds of homes

SCOUTS from the Peter­bor­ough area joined to­gether in a bid to raise aware­ness of the im­por­tance of do­nat­ing blood.

The three Ccout packs were the Bret­ton Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, the Nene Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and the Thor­ney Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

And togther they de­liv­ered about 8,000 leaflets to house­holds in Peter­bor­ough, en­cour­ag­ing more peo­ple in the area to be­come blood donors.

The ini­tia­tive was car­ried out as part of World Blood Donor Day and to in­crease the num­ber of blood donors in the area.

Emma Jack­son, Ex­plorer Scout leader with the Nene district, said: “The Scouts were re­ally en­thu­si­as­tic and wanted to get in­volved in such a worth­while cause.”

Joanne Ax­ford, donor re­la­tions man­ager for the Cam­bridge area, said: “It’s won­der­ful to see the gen­uine in­ter­est and sup­port that these young peo­ple have shown in help­ing us to re­cruit more blood donors.”
