A MASSIVE electricity failure wiped out power at more than 2,500 city homes. Houses, and many factories and workplaces at the “top end” of the city came to a grinding halt when the power failure struck at about midday. Electricity, in an area stretching almost three square miles from Paston to Werrington, was off for about an hour. The failure’s cause was unknown.
