“Work­ing on the hard­ware depart­ment was Mar­ion Med­lock and two ladies from Deep­ing, and Joyce Owen who lived at Sawtry.

“A young RAF man came into the shop when he was home on leave and he al­ways bought tooth­paste and shav­ing soap. Even­tu­ally we went out to­gether and when we got en­gaged we had our pho­to­graph taken at May Bones which was next door to TWT.

“I then mar­ried the young man to find he only lived a few miles from where I lived.

“Sadly I am on my own now and will be 84 in Septem­ber. We were very lucky as we had our di­a­mond wed­ding to­gether and I have a very good fam­ily, one son and two daugh­ters.

“If any of these peo­ple re­mem­ber me I would be pleased to hear from them.”
