League to try and sort out a fine mess
THE ChromaSport & Trophies Peterborough League are working to sort out a fine mess!
League chiefs are so determined to drive down a mountain of fines that they are laying on free workshops for their clubs on Tuesday.
A total of £6,720 was dished out in fines during last season - and incredibly that figure is more than £1,000 down on the previous campaign.
League development director Wendy Newey said: “There is a common misconception that we are only interested in taking clubs’ money, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“We are committed to working with clubs to make sure they complete their paperwork correctly so as we can continue to bring down the total of fines.
“The figure dropped by more than £1,000 last season and I would like to think next season it will have fallen to below £5,000.
“The frustrating thing is that teams only tend to make minor errors which could be put right with a little more care and attention.
“That is why we have decided to lay on these workshops on Tuesday to take club officials through what they should be doing.”
The hour-long, free-of-charge workshops will run at Chestnut Avenue at 10.30am, noon and 1.30pm on Tuesday. Places can be booked by contacting the Peterborough League office on 01733 566605.
