Apprentice makes it on national shortlist
A WISBECH woman has made it to the final of this year’s National Apprenticeship Awards.
Melinda Leishman is one of 24 talented apprentices who have been named as finalists in the awards. She recently won the Advanced Apprentice of the Year category in the East of England regional heats.
The awards shortlist closely follows the announcement by the Government that the number of Apprenticeship places available is to be boosted by 50,000.
Melinda’s employers, Commercial Utility Brokers Ltd, at March, have described her as a “bright spark with a natural flair for telesales and marketing”.
They say her motivation has helped increase turnover, which has doubled in the last year.
Melinda has suggested and implemented new training initiatives and has the highest ratio of converting cold telesales calls to new clients that the company has ever seen. She now aims to do a degree in marketing.
Melinda said: “I am delighted. My apprenticeship has helped me to achieve so much and I’m really proud to be recognised on a national scale. I am looking forward to the final.”
The final will take place on July 15 in London.
