Men bailed over pub as­sault

TWO men ar­rested in con­nec­tion with an al­leged as­sault out­side a pub have been re­leased on po­lice bail.

Po­lice say a 43-year-old man was at­tacked out­side the Old Coach House, in Bridge Foot, Mar­ket Deep­ing at about 9.30pm on Wed­nes­day.

The pub had been packed with rev­ellers cel­e­brat­ing Eng­land’s World Cup tri­umph over Slove­nia, as well as fans watch­ing Ger­many play­ing Ghana, when the in­ci­dent oc­curred.

The vic­tim was taken to Peter­bor­ough District Hos­pi­tal with a head in­jury. He is in a sta­ble con­di­tion at Peter­bor­ough District Hos­pi­tal. A 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, both from Mar­ket Deep­ing have been bailed un­til Au­gust 19.
