Festival organisers deserve credit

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Your Telegraph -

THE Peterborough Festival got off to a flying start on Saturday.

More than 20,000 people packed into Central Park for the big events, and hundreds more enjoyed the Mayor’s Parade in the city centre.

The stunning weather helped, but the huge crowds meant one of the most successful starts to the Peterborough Festival ever.

Organisers are trying to increase the profile and the attendance at the two-week event.

Events like this send out a positive message for Peterborough, and provide a great weekend for the people of the area.

A great festival is also an indicator of an aspiring and successful city.

With more big summer events to come after the festival, including the JLS concert weekend, Peterborough is really on the leisure map this summer.

Thousands of people had a great time over the weekend, with performances by X Factor star Nicole Lawrence and Britain’s Got Talent favourites Stavros Flatley, great highlights.

The acts were fun for audiences of all ages and got the festival off to a flyer.

Organisers should be congratulated on the opening weekend which saw the festival really step up a gear.
