We should bomb Capello out now and Sepp Blatter should be shot!

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - World Cup -

SO what did our experts make of Sunday’s shambles? BARRY FRY (Posh director of football) “So much for ramming Franz Beckenbauer’s words back down his throat. All we did was prove that the things he has been saying were spot-on. “There was no bulldog spirit, no passion, nothing. Fabio Capello is definitely not the right man for the job and we should bomb him out right now. “He has made some dreadful decisions after a great qualifying campaign – none more so than going back to Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher. “You only have to look at the England team to see the spirit isn’t right and we haven’t performed either. “And as for Sepp Blatter, he should be lined up and shot for his stance on introducing goal-line technology. “The entire world has seen a ball cross the line by two yards only for the goal not to be given. “It is a complete farce and who knows what would have happened from 2-2? “But that shouldn’t take away from the fact that we were completely rubbish from start to finish.” PETER OAKES (Panthers’ director of speedway) “I’m struggling to think of any appropriate words to describe just how badly we played. “I wasn’t one of the many people that got carried away by the win over Slovenia on Wednesday as I felt we were still pretty ordinary in that game. “And there can be no denying we were completely dreadful against Germany. “I would think David James is the only player worthy of a rating higher than four-out-of-10. “To see Emile Heskey coming on when we were chasing the game took the biscuit. “We can’t use the Lampard ‘goal’ as an excuse even though it would obviously have made things interesting at that point.” (former Posh legend) “It was an absolute disgrace. “To compare our defending to a pub team was a dis-service on a pub team. It looked like we had never played football before. “I said all along that I felt England would go out in the second round. We just don’t have the world-class players. “The media are guilty of building up and over-hyping players and when it came to the crunch in the World Cup, those players didn’t perform. “David James has done well since he came back into the team and is the only player who should escape the criticism. “On the other hand the Germans were brilliant. “While we couldn’t pass water, they knocked the ball around for fun.” (manager of Huntingdon Town) “Winning the World Cup was the dream, watching England go out was a nightmare. “I love my country, but I have to face facts – we have been second-best in every game. “Our manager has not been smart enough, picking the wrong players and using the wrong tactics. “Players like Rooney, Barry and Johnson have been awful beyond belief. “We now need an English manager and we need top English clubs to invest in the development of English players rather than merely flooding our game with so many foreign players. “I foirmly believe there won’t be any future for the national team until that starts happening.”
