Masood smashes Medbourne with eight-wicket spell
PAKISTANI ace Fahad Masood blasted Bourne to a quickfire Rutland Division One win at Medbourne yesterday.
Masood took 8-18 from 12 overs as the home side were shot out for just 40 in 24 overs. Masood clean bowled seven of his victims.
Alex Sears also took a wicket while a run-out completed the rout. Bourne openers Owen Smith and Andy Murdoch knocked the runs off in just four overs in a match that was over in time for the start of England’s World Cup tie with Germany.
Oundle were allowed to postpone their fixture at Rushton because of the football and they slipped from top to third as a result.
Godmanchester are back on top after narrowly defeating a depleted Market Deeping side, while Barnack moved up into second after a 27-run win at Wisbech.
Deeping did well to post 192-8 with Ed Davies (48) and John McDougall (45) leading the way and the hosts were in trouble at 100-6, but Elliott Cafferkey (59no) and Jack Skidmore (29no) saw Godmanchester home.
Imran Khan had a fine all-round game for Barnack, cracking 83 in his side’s 242-6 and then taking three wickets as Wisbech were dismissed for 215.
In-fom Adam Scotcher (53) also batted well for the winners, while Shahid Mohammed also claimed three wickets.
Dominic Stannard with 63 was the stand-out performer for Wisbech.
