Ma­sood smashes Med­bourne with eight-wicket spell

PAK­ISTANI ace Fa­had Ma­sood blasted Bourne to a quick­fire Rut­land Di­vi­sion One win at Med­bourne yes­ter­day.

Ma­sood took 8-18 from 12 overs as the home side were shot out for just 40 in 24 overs. Ma­sood clean bowled seven of his vic­tims.

Alex Sears also took a wicket while a run-out com­pleted the rout. Bourne open­ers Owen Smith and Andy Murdoch knocked the runs off in just four overs in a match that was over in time for the start of Eng­land’s World Cup tie with Ger­many.

Oun­dle were al­lowed to post­pone their fix­ture at Rush­ton be­cause of the foot­ball and they slipped from top to third as a re­sult.

God­manch­ester are back on top af­ter nar­rowly de­feat­ing a de­pleted Mar­ket Deep­ing side, while Bar­nack moved up into sec­ond af­ter a 27-run win at Wis­bech.

Deep­ing did well to post 192-8 with Ed Davies (48) and John McDougall (45) lead­ing the way and the hosts were in trou­ble at 100-6, but El­liott Caf­fer­key (59no) and Jack Skid­more (29no) saw God­manch­ester home.

Im­ran Khan had a fine all-round game for Bar­nack, crack­ing 83 in his side’s 242-6 and then tak­ing three wick­ets as Wis­bech were dis­missed for 215.

In-fom Adam Scotcher (53) also bat­ted well for the win­ners, while Shahid Mo­hammed also claimed three wick­ets.

Do­minic Stan­nard with 63 was the stand-out per­former for Wis­bech.
