PETERBOROUGH prison’s operator Kalyx has been awarded a prestigious health and safety award.

Staff from HMP Peterborough, in Saville Road, joined leading organisations from the international world of health and safety to celebrate being awarded the British Safety Council International Safety Award.

It was presented at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, in London.

To achieve the award, Kalyx needed to demonstrate that it had comprehensive health and safety policies in place, as well as a dedicated commitment from frontline staff to boardroom executives, to ensure a posi- tive safety culture.

In addition, the prison was assessed on its ability to provide workers with the necessary skills and competence to ensure risks to health and safety were suitably managed.

Kalyx manages the whole prison, taking responsibility for services such as food and facilities management, to custody and offending behaviour programmes.
