Abnormalities not recognised

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Uk & World Update -

AN inquest in Stamford in 2007 revealed how Nina Jelen had been admitted to hospital in Liverpool and given an ECG heart scan, but doctors failed to recognise abnormalities in the scan.

If her heart defect had been diagnosed at this stage, a pacemaker could have helped her go on to live a “normal life span” and recording a verdict of death from natural causes, coroner Gordon Ryall told Nina’s parents he hoped lessons would be learned. He recommended health authorities review their procedures to make sure patients such as Miss Jelen are correctly diagnosed in future.
