‘They deserve a bit of recognition’
of our nominations so far have been for whole teams rather than just individuals, reflecting some great team work that takes place across the hospital trust.
Elizabeth Brown is one of those who has seen first-hand the quality of care that staff can provide when they all work together.
She attended the fracture clinic at Peterborough District Hospital about three weeks ago after fracturing her upper arm and has nominated Mr James Hutchinson, a consultant in orthopaedics and trauma, and his team from the clinic for this award.
Elizabeth (66) said: “They do marvellous work and are always polite, even though they are so busy. I think they deserve the award as a good doctor and team.
“I just felt they’re such a busy clinic but nothing seemed too much for them, they all seemed so pleasant and polite. I thought they deserved a bit of recognition for all that they do.
“Every patient that came out of there seemed so pleased, not one patient came out annoyed.”
James Hutchinson said that the fracture clinic is a busy place, seeing between 40 and 60 patients in half a day.
“They’re very busy and very fastpaced and so they are a good example of working as team and trying to give the patients the care they need,” he said.
James believes that even if the team does not win, having been nominated will give the staff a real boost.
“It’s great for morale,” he said. “It’s very good for the team, it’s very uplifting that someone’s taken the time and thinks we’ve done a good job.”
