Staff not needed

RE: Five city schools join new academy bids, ET, June 28.

Surely the fact that so many schools are desperate to leave local authority control is damning indictment on Peterborough City Council’s education department.

Also, with many schools soon likely to be running themselves, libraries, sport, theatres etc run by the cultural trust and refuse collection processing soon to be taken over by an arms-length management organisation, how come we still need a huge council staff and a chief executive on a bigger salary than the Prime Minister?

In the private sector, a business with dramatically fewer responsibilities would lay off staff.
