Other big scores were recorded by March Town’s Aussie Matt Wil­cox who made 101 in a Di­vi­sion Two win over Oakham, Andy Hulme who cracked 112 as Stam­ford beat New­bor­ough in the same sec­tion and Bourne leg­end Hed­ley Stroud who made 107 for the club’s sec­ond team in a win over Oakham sec­onds in Di­vi­sion Five be­fore gen­er­ously re­tir­ing to let oth­ers have a go.

There was a first de­feat for Cas­tor in Di­vi­sion Four as Peter­bor­ough Town sec­onds proved 36 runs too good. For­mer Cas­tor cap­tain Bob Milne made 63 for Town be­fore wily slow bowler Richard Ken­dall (5-25) wrecked the ti­tle favourites’ in­nings.

Town sec­onds also en­joyed a good day 24 hours ear­lier when strength­en­ing their po­si­tion at the Northants Di­vi­sion Three with a four run win over Hey­ford. Alex Mitchell, Stu­art Wil­liams and Daniel Oldham all made half cen­turies for Town.

New­bor­ough main­tained their po­si­tion at the top of Hunts Di­vi­sion One with a six-wicket win over War­boys. The vil­lagers were in trou­ble at 37-4 chas­ing 215-8, but a bril­liant un­bro­ken fifth wicket stand of 178 be­tween Gareth Clingo (80no) and An­drew Fitzgib­bon (77no) saw them home.

Or­ton Park also pulled an un­likely win out of the bag de­spite scor­ing 248-8 against Wares­ley. Ian Han­cock cracked 97 of those, but Wares­ley were 140-0 and 2003 be­fore they col­lapsed to 245 all-out thanks mainly to 6-48 from John Clifton.

Andy Larkin com­pleted a ton by hit­ting the last ball for four in an eight-wicket win over Cas­tor sec­onds in Di­vi­sion Two, while Marc Cut­worth smacked 111 in Ram­sey’s win over Blun­ham.

Neil Fox (103no) was the fi­nal lo­cal cen­turian in Oun­dle sec­onds’ Northants Di­vi­sion Eight draw with Ste­wart & Lloyds 2nds.

Lo­cal ri­vals March and Wis­bech pro­duced two ex­cit­ing fin­ishes in Cambs League ac­tion. The third team match was tied, while the fourth team clash was won by March by one wicket.
