Memorial stones are on display at hospital
for the old war memorial.
The stones were moved to the Edith Cavell Hospital site, as it was known that this was where the new hospital would be built.
Unfortunately the first two bids for a new hospital for the city were unsuccessful.
The stones were not abandoned; to have moved them may have damaged them and would have exposed them to the elements and further vandalism.
It was always the intention to incorporate them into the City Hospital and this is what has happened. ALICIA DAVID Peterborough as well – not only those on day duty, but the poor night nurses. One was actually shivering.
