MORE than 400 proud parents and relatives enjoyed a nativity play at Herlington Pre-school .

The Orton Malborne preschool held two performances for the first time, such was demand for tickets.

In the end more than 200 people attended each show which saw every one of the school’s 198 pupils play a part.

As well as performing the show, youngsters also sang a variety of traditional Christmas songs including Away In A Manger, Little Donkey and We Three Kings.

The children were applauded off the stage on each occasion and staff received many positive comments from the audience.

School manager Barbara Howlett said: “It was a traditional nativity performance and this was greatly appreciated by the audience.

“We received lots of positive comments from people who came along and I know that the children really enjoyed themselves.

“We had a new classroom built last year which boosted our numbers and meant we had more people turn up than ever before. We may need to do three shows next year.”
