Resolving complaints boosts confidence

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Your -

Police do a good job... in Peterborough the crime figures in most key categories are falling, and high profile operations are getting large numbers of troublemakers off the streets.

The force has seen a big rise in the number of complaints against officers across Cambridgeshire.

There may be many reasons for this... not least the fact that when you get tough with bad behaviour many will complain about it.

However, around 15 per cent of complaints investigated were substantiated and for the force and the public that is 15 per cent too many.

We can trust our police and they are doing a good job in Peterborough, but it is right that they are called to account when complaints are made... that, ultimately, leads to greater public trust, not less.
