Brave RAF bomb expert up for award
SOME of the most famous faces in the world will applaud a bomb disposal expert from RAF Wittering at a glittering awards ceremony today.
Chief Technician David Lowe, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Disposal Operator, has been nominated as Outstanding Airman of the Year at The Sun’s Military Awards – also known as ‘The Millies’.
He will meet David Cameron at 10 Downing Street before going to the ceremony, where guests include Prince William and David Beckham.
During his recent deployment to Afghanistan, Chf Tech Lowe attended nine incidents over a ten day period, defusing 15 IEDS by hand.
RAF Wittering spokesman Tony Walsh said: “We are all very proud of him, he deserves this recognition.”
The ceremony will be broadcast on ITV at 9pm on Wednesday.
