THE Royal Mil­i­tary Academy Sand­hurst in Sur­rey is where all of­fi­cers in the Bri­tish Army are trained to take on the re­spon­si­bil­i­ties of lead­ing soldiers.

The col­lege was formed in 1947.

It was de­scended from two older in­sti­tu­tions, the Royal Mil­i­tary Academy (RMA) and the Royal Mil­i­tary Col­lege (RMC).

The RMA had been founded in 1741; the RMC be­gan in 1800.

Pre­vi­ous grad­u­ates of the col­lege in­clude the Duke of Cam­bridge, Prince Wil­liam and Prince Harry.
