Kings rule in Premier Divi­sion at Christ­mas

KINGS Cliffe will spend Christ­mas on top of the Premier Divi­sion tree.

Alex Brown’s men made sure they re­mained at the sum­mit by eas­ing to a 3-0 suc­cess at Oun­dle on Satur­day in their fi­nal fix­ture of the year.

Re­cent sign­ing James Pi­cillo, Adam Bevilac­qua and Matt Black hit the goals that wrapped up the points for a Cliffe side en­joy­ing a fine first sea­son at this level.

Ti­tle favourites Pinch­beck re­main a cou­ple of points adrift fol­low­ing a 4-1 suc­cess at Deep­ing Rangers Re­serves, but Ian Dunn’s men are armed with a stack of matches in hand.

Third-placed Peter­bor­ough Sports saw out a splen­did 2011 with a 2-0 suc­cess over Lev­er­ing­ton thanks to a Luke Watkins brace, but there was no fes­tive cheer for Al­con­bury at the other end of the ta­ble.

Mark Wilson’s side are still wait­ing to open their ac­count af­ter slip­ping to a 13th suc­ces­sive de­feat at the hands of Ram­sey on Satur­day.

They’re al­ready 13 points from safety and look­ing doomed.

STIL­TON are ex­pe­ri­enc­ing a win­ter wob­ble in Divi­sion One.

The ta­ble-top­pers slipped to a sur­prise 2-1 loss at the hands of Hamp­ton Sports on Satur­day.

They were un­done by goals from An­thony Kier­nan and Do­minic Goy­mour and have now taken just one point from their last two games.

Stil­ton have been joined at the sum­mit by Langtoft who them­selves suf­fered Satur­day dis­ap­point­ment when be­ing held 3-3 at Long Sut­ton Re­serves de­spite a cou­ple of John Armstrong goals.

Those re­sults have left the door open for River­side (7-1 win­ners at bot­tom side Stam­ford Bels with Dan Foun­tain hit­ting a hat-trick) and Whit­tle­sey Blue Star (3-1 vic­tors at Pow­er­league) to mount a ti­tle charge.

FARCET were feel­ing fes­tive - af­ter roar­ing into dou­ble-fig­ures on Satur­day.

Rian Inns led the way with four goals as the vil­lagers bashed Oakham United Re­serves 10-3 in Divi­sion Two.

Tom Wales wasn’t far be­hind with a hat-trick while David French, John Scott and Matt Smith hit the oth­ers.

Ry­hall took over at the top of this sec­tion with a 2-1 win at Guy­hirn thanks to goals from Michael Webb and James Farm­brough.

Pre­vi­ous lead­ers Castor & Ailsworth saw their clash at Eye Sports Re­serves post­poned.

LANGTOFT could be cel­e­brat­ing on two fronts come the end of the sea­son.

Not only are their first team chal­leng­ing for Divi­sion One hon­ours, but the sec­ond string are lead­ing the way in Divi­sion Three.

A 9-0 rout of Up­ping­ham Re­serves left them five points clear go­ing into the Christ­mas break. The goals came from Oliver Find­ing (3), Joe Jack­son (2), Dan Gaches, Phil Barker, Scott Collins and Tom Skeath.

Nether­ton A and Coates Re­serves bat­tled out a 2-2 draw in Divi­sion Four that did nei­ther side’s ti­tle prospects much good.

There hasn’t been a lot wrong with River­side Re­serves de­but sea­son to date. The city lads strength­ened their grip on top spot in Divi­sion Five by eas­ing past their big­gest ti­tle ri­vals, Sawtry Re­serves 4-0.

Clif­ford Wil­liams and Pep Schior­lin both net­ted while a cou­ple of own goals boosted their haul.

ON TAR­GET: Nick Ghis­lanzoni scored for Stam­ford in their 4-0 win over Lin­coln United.
