Double drama on busy Thorney bypass
MOTORISTS on the A47 faced disruption after a lorry fell into a roadside ditch.
The incident happened less than an hour after another lorry was involved in a collision with a car on the same stretch of dual carriageway.
The double drama took place on thethorney bypass yesterday morning. The first incident, involving an articulated lorry and a people carrier, took place at 7.55am.
It left the road partially blocked with glass strewn across the road.
A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire police said no-one was injured in the crash.
The second incident happened on the same stretch of road at 8.45am when a lorry laden with empty boxes came off the road and into a ditch.
The driver managed to escape the lorry without injury.
The road remained open for a time, before being closed in both directions from about 9.50am to 12.20pm while the vehicle was recovered.
