Cooking a feast for the homeless
KIND-HEARTED people cooked up a feast for the homeless in Peterborough.
Members of Peterborough Inter-faith Council came together to cook a curry at the Peterborough Streets day centre for homeless people, in Adderley, Bretton.
They were joined by the Mayor of Peterborough Cllr Paulathacker, who helped serve up the meals. Centre manager Denise Lewis said: “It was really lovely. Between 40 and 50 people came for dinner and they all got three courses.
“They even made the staff sit down and we were waited on as well. It is obviously very important for people to get a good hot meal at this time of year so this was particularly good.
“Our clients seemed to really enjoy themselves.”
But the group’s generosity did not end there. Members also donated a cheque for £400 which was gratefully received and has gone towards paying for a new washing machine.
The centre is now gearing up for Christmas when it will team up with Bretton New Hope Ministry church to provide Christmas dinner for the homeless.
