Left gobsmacked about the loss of such a fine aircraft
WITH reference to the letter in The Evening
Telegraph dated December 15 which was about the Harrier aircraft.
I worked for the Ministry of Defence at RAF Wittering for 11 years, from 2000 until I retired at 65 years of age in September 2011.
I was 25 when the Harrier first came into service at RAF Wittering. I was gobsmacked when it was withdrawn from service.
As for accidents travelling to and from RAF Wittering and Peterborough, I only had one and that was at the old, defunct Carpenter’s Lodge roundabout. IAN MCDOWELL Saddle Court,
