Humbug is the right medicine

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Opinion -

HOSPITAL

bosses have axed the traditional staff Christmas meal this year.

Now if anyone deserves a festive treat it’s the army of doctors and nurses and hospital staff who save lives and help the sick and injured so tirelessly all year round.

But the trust that runs the city hospital is facing a brutal cost saving plan and in that context bosses have done the only thing they could reasonably do. The have made a festive gesture by providing mince pies, but have otherwise slashed a £21,000 cost to just £300. And the vast majority of staff understand the need to do it.

It may seem like “bah humbug” but in the current tough financial climate it is the right medicine.
