DUR­ING the works, builders will ex­ca­vate more than 2,000 cu­bic me­tres of soil.

Con­struc­tion work­ers have al­ready used 1,300 cu­bic me­tres of con­crete in the foun­da­tions and by the time the project has been com­pleted, 500 tonnes of steel will be used to sup­port the build­ing.

The com­pleted school will have 63,000 bricks, 23 cu­bic me­tres of mor­tar and 17,500 litres of paint.

There will also be 2,000 me­tres of un­der­ground drainage pip­ing fit­ted by the time the pupils start lessons in Septem­ber.
