FACTFILE... on domestic violence

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - NEWS -

DOMESTIC violence accounts for between 16 and 25 per cent of all recorded violent crime.

The number of reported domestic abuse incidents for Cambridgeshire last year (April-march) was 12,7 0 with just under 4,000 of these within Peterborough.

This year, to date, there have been 6,785 incidents with 2,180 within Peterborough. For every incident reported there could be one or two that go unreported.

These numbers equate to around 11 reported incidents each day.

This means that potentially on a Saturday with thousands of people either shopping in Queensgate or watching a match at London Road there is every likelihood that you will walk past an abuser.
