Motorcycle marathon to raise cash
TEN Perkins employees have raised £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support, after going on a sponsored coastal trek on their motorbikes.
After donning their riding gear, the team hopped onto their motorcycles to set off on a 170-mile journey along the coastal roads to celebrate the end of the motorcycle season.
The Motorcycle Ride-out For Macmillan event saw riders donate £10 to take part in the ride, which, with additional sponsorship, helped raise £200 for the charity.
With all employee funds raised for the charity being matched by Perkins, Macmillan is set to benefit from a grand total of £400.
With 291 years of riding experience between them, the motorcyclists enjoyed the afternoon ride which took them through a variety of coastal towns including Sheringham, Heacham and Hunstanton.
Event organiser, Glenn Green, who works in the Product Support Group at Perkins, described the fund- raiser as “fun and uplifting” and it could well become an annual event.
He said: “It’s good to know we raised money for a great cause by simply doing what we enjoy. I rode my first motorcycle over 50 years ago and it’s been a thrill ever since. It’s even better knowing we can fundraise as well.”
