Replacement road surface welcomed

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Your Telegraph -

IN response to the person complaining about the closure of the “old A1073”.

There was no closure. If you explained that you were a resident, you were allowed access.

I have lived on this road for the last 40 years and I thought I was going to live in a country lane, but when the HGV’S travelled past, in those days it was Grimsby Fish lorries, it then felt as if I had moved onto the M1 motorway.

The houses along this road have been shaken to such an extent, that all the walls and plaster inside the houses have cracked.

Now, it is blissful, because we no longer have that problem since the bypass was opened two months ago. It has been well publicised that this work will be carried out from the media and through the Eye Parish Council Meetings.

I am more than happy to have the road inconvenienced for one Day in order to have a good road surface at last. There will also be a road traffic calming installed later this month. Good.
